B i o g r a p h y

Yen Lin Chin started singing in year 2000.  By 2006, she had achieved, with Merit and Distinction, her voice and piano Grade Eight Certificates from ABRSM (Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music) and her Vocal Performance Certificate from the Trinity Guildhall Examination Board.  Being the Overall First Prize winner in the 2004 National Secondary School Singing Competition gained her a full scholarship at the Malaysian Institute of Art.  In 2007, she graduated with a Diploma in Music and was recognized with the Best Student award.  During these seven years, Yen Lin performed and won numerous prizes in Malaysia, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.  With this international accomplishment, Yen Lin transferred to the United States and accepted a full scholarship at Louisiana State University, where she completed, magna cum laude, her Bachelor of Music in 2013.  As an undergraduate, she was awarded additional scholarships by the Tiger Athletic Foundation and the Music Club of Baton Rouge.  She also won first prize in the Louisiana Regional NATS Contest. She has graduated with her Master's degree at LSU in May 2015.

 

Yen Lin has worked with tenors-Robert Grayson,  soprano-Sandra Moon, Jane Randolph, and Susan Kane, and mezzo soprano-Sophie Lair-berreby.  She has also coached with Kristof Van Grysperre, Brian Farrell, Michael Borowitz, Dennis Jesse, Patricia O'Neill, Erika Dallos, Marcie Stapp and Niel Muus.  She has performed in the LSU Opera where she sang Musetta in La Bohème, Zerlina in Don Giovanni, Héro in Béatrice et Bénédict, Anna I in Die sieben Todsünden, La Princesse in L'enfant et les Sortilèges, Ynold in Impressions de Pelléas as well as in the LSU Opera Outreach Program where she sang Adina in The Elixir of Love, and also the opera chorus in Roméo et Juliette, Le Nozze di Figaro, H.M.S. Pinafore, and The Pirates of Penzance. Yen Lin attended Crescendo Summer Institute in Sárospatak, Hungary, Opera Academy of California in San Francisco, Manhattan Opera Studio in New York City and Angel Vocals Art in Los Angeles where she sang Gianetta in L'elisir d'amore, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro and Erste Dame in Die Zauberflöte, and Adina in L'elisir d'amore. She also sang the role of Adele from Die Fledermaus and Olympia from Les Contes d'Hoffmann with Repertory Opera Company and Global Musical Bridges in Los Angeles. Yen Lin made a debut at the Carnegie Hall in 2019 and became an AMSAT certified Alexander Technique Teacher in 2024.
